Work continues between Horsehay and Dawley station and the Barrow Crossing with new drains now starting to be installed. The waiting room at Horsehay and Dawley station in now open on running days Lineside clearance has taken place north of Horsehay and Dawley station to improve sight lines. The weighing machine has been repainted. Ruston and Hornsby diesel mechanical No. 313394. ‘Jammo’ Servicing continues at Spring Village. Its engine was started on Sunday after recent work. Work to replace the toilet continues Brake Standard Open (BSO) No. 9406 Preparation for the new flooring is now almost complete and the new storage cupboard has been painted On Wednesday the railway gave a talk to the Sutton Coldfield Railway Society on the history of our line and railways in the surrounding area, the preservation society’s achievements since the 1970’s, and our plans for the future. This was a really enjoyable evening, and a perfect way to introduce the railway before the society visits us in September. On Thursday evening we welcomed scouts from the 1st Lilleshall and Muxton group, who attended to assist the railway whilst under the supervision of group leaders and volunteers. This was another great event. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and the scouts received their badges and enjoyed some cake once the activities had finished. There was no cake left for the volunteers! Our next special event is our model railway exhibition on Sunday 30th July at Horsehay Village Hall and Spring Village station. Including layouts from N to G scale, Collectible toy displays, Miniature Railway and display, standard gauge trains running, trade support, society stands, TSR stand and refreshments (refreshments at the hall provided by the Friends of Horsehay Pool, and are cash sales only) Combined tickets (entrance to model railway exhibition and standard gauge trains), Adults £12, concessions £10, Child £8, Family (2+2) £30. First departure from Spring Village (TF4 2NF - free car park) will be at 11am, with further departures at 12pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm. The gift shop, second hand book stall and picnic area will also be open The Furnaces Tearoom will be offering hot and cold drinks, ice creams, snacks, cakes and light meals to eat in or take away.
