A massive thank you to Alfie, Rachael and family for raising £230 by doing a sponsored walk to the top of the Wrekin. The money that Alfie, who is three, has raised has been match funded by the National Westminster Bank Plc, so an amazing £460 will be donated to the Steam Tram boiler fund. What a star Alfie is!
Permanent way and Infrastructure Work continues at Lawley, with the platform edge now completely removed and the infill behind cleared. The platform road at Spring Village has been weeded and tidied up. New permanent fencing is being built for the platform extension at Spring Village Drainage work at Horsehay and Dawley is nearly complete. The benefits of the new drainage system can already be seen. Fencing at Horsehay and Dawley station continues to be cleaned and painted. Training Shunter, Induction and PTS training has taken place for a has taken place for established, and new, volunteers. Tinsel has been dropped off at Lawley for storage (Christmas and the Polar Express isn’t that far away!) The Old Loco Shed is gradually being tidied up to create more useable space Thank you to Ben and Shaun for the additional information provided for this update The railway is next open on Sunday 20th August, when British Railways Class 08 diesel No. 08757 “Eagle” is due to be hauling our trains. First departure from Spring Village (TF4 2NF - free car park) will be at 11am, with further departures at 12pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Tickets £8 Adults, £5 Children and concessions, £25 Family. Great value season tickets, which pay for themselves after only 4 visits (not special events) are also available. Tickets allow unlimited travel on our standard gauge trains, entry into our model railway exhibition and (if open) museum.
