The steam tram continues to have its parts cleaned and painted in undercoat. This week the water tank supports, the ash tray cover and coach frame have been worked on. The water tank supports, brake pipes, base plate and chain cover have been test fitted to make sure everything still fits! For a number of reasons, the tram is now expected to be back in operation for the 2025 season. The garden at Spring Village Station has been weeded. A new creature has been added to the picnic area, this time a cat. Come and see if you can spot it (along with all the others!) We welcomed our friends from MerryThought Bears on Sunday who were photographing their latest Paddington Bear at different locations on the railway, including Horsehay & Dawley station, in the carriages and on 5619. The bear is due to be released this month, so keep an eye out on social media channels for the pictures! The buffer stop below Horsehay & Dawley has been taken down to allow the roadrailer digger to reach Coronation Walk. Most of the dead trees and brash has now been removed and we will now start working at the top end of the walk by the barrow crossing. We have bought another buffer stop (currently stored at Spring Village). This will shortly be repainted, and should then be placed at the end of the line once we restart relaying track down to Doseley. 5619 was in action during the Bank Holiday weekend. The sun shone and we were busy on both days. Hopefully this will continue for the whole month. Thank you to Jacob and Pete for the additional information and photographs used in this update. We are next open to the public on Sunday 12th May. GWR 56XX steam engine No. 5619 will be hauling our trains. First departure from Spring Village is at 11am, with further departures at 12pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Ticket prices Adult £10, Children £7, Family £32.
