More work has taken place with the steam tram. The boiler has been painted, and has had fittings attached. The boiler has been put into the tram body for a test fit. The sand boxes have been rubbed down and painted.
The tram cylinder and piston is currently visible. The makers plate makes interesting reading, and believed to be over 100 years old. The Bedford TK flatbed lorry is being worked on. The back wheels have been removed so that the seized brakes can be freed up. Class 08 diesel 08757 “Eagle” has had her fitness to run (FTR) exam. Ground work preparation has taken place at the tearoom, ready for a container to be installed, which will contain our new purpose built kitchen. It is hoped that the new kitchen will be in place before Easter. The existing kitchen will continue to be used for our Easter and Alice events before being closed to allow the tearoom to be renovated and remodelled to increase the available seating. More of the Coronation Walk route has been cleared. The ladies toilets at Spring Village have been painted, and we are now starting on the gents. The 2nd hand books are being set up in the Horsehay and Dawley station waiting room. They will be available for sale for a cash donation. All donations will go towards the maintenance and overhaul GWR 56XX steam locomotive No. 5619. Thanks to Jacob and Ian for the additional information and photographs used in this update.
