The regular track walk took place again on Sunday. No deer were spotted this time The lighting has been fixed in the accessible toilet at Spring Village. The contractors are still working to install the new drainage pipes between Horsehay and Dawley station and the barrow crossing. A ballast cleaning machine is at Doseley so that the ballast can be reused. The car park at the rear of the tearoom has started to be tidied up. A large amount of wood and rubbish has been removed and recycled. GWR 56XX No 5619 Repairs are continuing. Pacers 144013, 142058 and 142004 All 3 units have been started up, checked over and maintained. All 3 Pacer units are currently operational. On Saturday, the railway ran its very popular Princesses event. So many people attended that we needed to double the number of carriages used on our trains. Many of our visitors came in fancy dress, and they met and talked to many Princesses on the train and were able to have their photograph taken with them. A face painter was based in the waiting room at Horsehay and Dawley, which is not usually open to the public. Hopefully we will be able to open it on a more regular basis. The trains were full, and everyone had a great time, despite the rain showers. We have received very positive feedback already and this is something that we will do again next year. Trains were hauled by our class 08 diesel “Eagle” Thank you to Shaun and Dave for the additional information used in this update Our next special event is our model railway exhibition on Sunday 30th July at Horsehay Village Hall and Spring Village station.
