Permanent Way and Infrastructure


Ballast has been dug out from the platform road at Spring Village station in advance of some track maintenance taking place


The cracked window in the Horsehay & Dawley waiting room has been replaced and more picket fencing has been installed.


With the new drainage system being close to completion. The base of the old Horsehay & Dawley signalbox has been drained. It appears to still be in good condition.


MK2 Tourist Standard Open (TSO) coaches


The TSOs not required for the rest of the operating season have begun to have Christmas decorations put up inside, ready for the Polar Express trains. The remaining TSOs will start to be decorated once the running season ends.

First departure from Spring Village (TF4 2NF - free car park) will be at 11am, with further departures at 12pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm.


Tickets £10 Adults, £8 Children, £30 Family. Senior/concessions fares are not available and season tickets are not valid for this event. Tickets allow unlimited travel on our standard gauge trains, entry into our model railway exhibition and (if open) museum.

The Furnaces Tearoom will be offering hot and cold drinks, ice creams, snacks, cakes and light meals to eat in or take away.


The Phoenix Miniature Railway will also be open for rides (additional charges apply)


The railway is also open on Sunday 27th and Monday 28th August, when British Railways Class 08 diesel No. 08757 “Eagle” is due to be hauling our trains.
