Brake Standard Open (BSO) No. 9046 Sanding and filling continues on the exterior of the coach. The flooring continues to be relaid. The replacement vinyl flooring is on order. GWR 56XX tank engine No 5619 Repairs continue to be carried. Further testing and inspections are required before the loco can return to service, Peckett & Sons Saddle tank No 1722 Rocket After her final steaming and runs on June 4th, this loco has now been withdrawn for its ten yearly overhaul. Plans are already in place for this to happen and hopefully she will be back in service soon. Permanent Way (P-Way) The remaining sleepers (removed to allow drainage work) have been brought up from Horsehay and Dawley station into Spring Village yard. The track bed and surrounding area is now ready for the contractors to come on site, which will happen very shortly. The railway ran a successful Classic Transport day on Sunday 28th May. With visiting MGs, Rovers, miniature and full sized traction engines, Land Rovers, Jaguar, motor cycles and sentinel diesel waggon, there was plenty for our visitors to enjoy. The sun shone, and the railway was very busy all day. Feedback has been very positive, and we will definitely do it again next year. No concessions. On Sunday a standard timetable will be in operation with Pacer 142058 and the 2-car DMU in operation. This will be your last opportunity to ride on the DMU at the railway this year. Sunday tickets - £8 Adult, £5 Children, £25 Family (2 adults and up to 3 children). No concessions. On both days Free car park at Spring Village Station All day tickets allow unlimited travel on all our standard gauge trains plus entry into our model railway exhibition, and (if open) museum. Gift shop open The Furnaces Tearoom will be open offering hot and cold drinks, snacks, cakes, ice creams and light meals to eat in or take away. The picnic area is open. Come and see if you can find all the wooden animals hiding here 😀(thanks to Pete and Alex for this). The Phoenix Miniature railway will be also be running (additional charges apply). If the weather is dry, the second hand bookstore may well be open outside the waiting room on Spring Village station. As well as railway books, we have just received a supply of gardening books, road transport and tram books. Book prices are only £2 each or 3 for £5. Come and grab yourself a bargain.
