All the metal under floor has now been replaced. The vinyl flooring is on order and is awaiting delivery. The exterior of the coach continues to be rubbed down, filled and painter with primer. Tourist Standard Open (TSO) Preparation of the TSOs for our 2023 Polar Express trains are well underway with continued deep cleaning and repairs to the seat cushions taking place this week GWR 56XX 0-6-2 tank No. 5619. Repairs are continuing in the loco shed. British Railways Class 37 diesel No. 37263 Remains on hire to Severn Valley Railway Permanent Way and Infrastructure Work continues on the storeroom in the tram yard. The roof and the walls have now been replaced, and the wooden facia boards cut ready to be fixed into place. Lineside clearance continues along the line. This is starting to make a noticeable difference which is pleasing, because it has been very hot work during the recent warm spell of weather. The station gardens are in full summer bloom, and are a credit to the hard work undertaken by our volunteer gardeners. Mowing off of grass areas continues on a weekly basis. On Saturday we ran our second Fish ‘N’ chip special of the season. North British diesel hydraulic No. 27414 ‘TOM’ hauled the train, full of hungry passengers all eating their delicious fish and chips. Two trips of the line were made. We have received very positive feedback already and we will plan to run these again next year. The next event is our Princess event on Saturday 15th July. Come aboard our heritage trains and meet some of your favorite fairytale characters. Tickets are now available for only £7, which gives unlimited travel for the day. The railway is again open on Sunday 16 July when British Railways Class 08 diesel No. 08757 ‘Eagle’ is due to be hauling our trains. First departure from Spring Village (TF4 2NF - free car park) will be at 11am, with further departures at 12pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Tickets £8 Adults, £5 Children and concessions, £25 Family. Great value season tickets, which pay for themselves after only 4 visits (not special events) are also available. Tickets allow unlimited travel on our standard gauge trains, entry into our model railway exhibition and (if open) museum. The gift shop, second hand book stall and picnic area will also be open The Furnaces Tearoom will be offering hot and cold drinks, ice creams, snacks, cakes and light meals to eat in or take away.
