Volunteer Liaison Officer update
GWR 56XX 0-6-2 tank No. 5619 Has passed its cold boiler exam. Repairs are ongoing. BR Class 37 diesel No. 37263 Is currently at the Severn Valley Railway, and will play a starring role in their Spring Diesel Gala running from 18th - 21st May. Ruston and Hornsby diesel hydraulic No. 525947 “Rusty” Work has started on dismantling the engine in order to identify the fault and start repairs Permanent Way (P-Way) The final panel of track between the Barrow Crossing and Horsehay and Dawley Station has been removed. We are now arranging for contractors to come onsite and start renewing the drainage along the track bed. Lawley Station Work has started again on making platform improvements. Our Royal Special trains ran on Sunday and Monday to celebrate the King’s Coronation. We welcomed lots of visitors over the two days and also ran a very successful cream tea service on Sunday which was completely sold out. We currently have an appeal to buy a new boiler for our narrow gauge steam tram. Peckett and Sons steam engine No 1722 “Rocket” will be hauling our trains First departure from Spring Village station (TF4 2NF - free car park) is at 11am with further departures at 12pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Tickets £8 Adult, £5 children/concessions, £25 Family (2 adults and up to 3 children). Great value season tickets which pay for themselves after only 4 visits are also available. All day tickets allow unlimited travel on all our standard gauge trains plus entry into our model railway exhibition, and (if open) museum. The Furnaces Tearoom will be open offering hot and cold drinks, snacks, cakes, ice creams and light meals to eat in or take away. The Phoenix Miniature railway will be also be running (additional charges apply). If the weather is dry, the second hand bookstore may well be open outside the waiting room on Spring Village station. As well as railway books, we have just received a good supply of gardening books. Book prices £2 each or 3 for £5. Come and grab yourself a bargain. All attractions subject to availability.
