Permanent Way (P-Way)
Contractors are still on site installing the new drainage between Horsehay and Dawley station and the Barrow Crossing. Some lineside clearance has taken place on the trackbed from Doseley to help accessibility. More lineside clearance has taken place by the old Station Master’s cottage. However, the hot weather over the weekend limited the amount of time we could spend on this job The roof over the ‘old ticket office’ is being replaced. This is part of the ongoing work to create more storage area in the yard. Lighting has been installed in one of the containers in the tram yard. This will help volunteers to prepare for the Polar Express (only 5 months to go 😂) GWR 56XX 0-6-2T No 5619. Repairs continue. Non destructive testing has been completed, with a Hydraulic test to take place shortly. BR Class 37 diesel No 37263 This loco remains on hire at Severn Valley Railway. Ruston and Hornsby 0-4-0 Diesel Mechanical No. 313394. The loco is currently being serviced at Spring Village GWR 20t Brake Van ‘TOAD’ No. 17453 The painting of the veranda has been completed Thanks to Shaun and Miles for the additional information used in this update. The railway is next open on Sunday 2nd July when BR Class 08 diesel No. 08757 ‘Eagle’ is due to be hauling our trains. First departure from Spring Village (TF4 2NF - free car park) will be at 11am, with further departures at 12pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Tickets £8 Adults, £5 Children and concessions, £25 Family. Great value season tickets, which pay for themselves after only 4 visits (not special events) are also available. Tickets allow unlimited travel on our standard gauge trains, entry into our model railway exhibition and (if open) museum. The gift shop, second hand book stall and picnic area will also be open The Furnaces Tearoom will be offering hot and cold drinks, ice creams, snacks, cakes and light meals to eat in or take away. The next event is our Princess event on Saturday 15th July. Come aboard our heritage trains and meet some of your favorite fairytale characters.
