The tram has had its sandboxes installed and the axle boxes and suspension have been given a top coat of paint. The wooden buffers have been sanded ready for repainting, as has the floor of the coach. The fly wheel has been painted silver and the metal casing and straps have been put back onto the piston
The buffer stop that we purchased last year has had a visit from the scouts and has been rubbed down and given a new coat of paint. Apparently more paint went on the scouts than the buffer stop but we are very grateful for their hard work. Shunter training took place on Saturday for a couple of volunteers. We welcomed Yvonne to the railway on Sunday who enjoyed her guard’s experience, working alongside Barry for the day. It was a pleasure to welcome her to the railway and we are so pleased that she had a fantastic time with us. We also had 4 guests enjoying a footplate experience on 5619 throughout the day. With the hot sunny weather, the footplate was very warm! Thanks to Jacob for the additional information and photographs used in this update. We are next open to the public on Sunday 19th May for our Ford Model T Event and vintage mobile bar.
