The new roof for the store in the tram yard has been fitted The contractors are still on site putting in the new drainage south of Horsehay and Dawley station. Permanent Way More lineside clearance has taken place to improve sight lines for the locomotive crews. A flail is being sourced which will make the job much easier On the regular track inspection, a deer was seen running alongside the railway at Lawley. I knew that deer are to be found in the area (despite it becoming more and more built up with houses) but this is the first time I had every seen one on the railway. She quickly bounded up the embankment and was gone. GWR 56XX 0-6-2 tank No. 5619 Repairs continue with the paneling on the rear of the firebox being refitted. Ruston and Hornsby 0-4-0 diesel mechanical No. 313394 ‘Jammo’ Continues to be serviced. The oil filter has been cleaned and refitted and the engine refilled with oil. The railway is next open on Sunday 9th July when North British 0-4-0 diesel hydraulic No. 27414 ‘Tom’ is due to be hauling our trains. First departure from Spring Village (TF4 2NF - free car park) will be at 11am, with further departures at 12pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Tickets £8 Adults, £5 Children and concessions, £25 Family. Great value season tickets, which pay for themselves after only 4 visits (not special events) are also available. Tickets allow unlimited travel on our standard gauge trains, entry into our model railway exhibition and (if open) museum. The gift shop, second hand book stall and picnic area will also be open The Furnaces Tearoom will be offering hot and cold drinks, ice creams, snacks, cakes and light meals to eat in or take away. The next event is our Princess event on Saturday 15th July. Come aboard our heritage trains and meet some of your favorite fairytale characters.
