Permanent Way and Infrastructure
The P-Way gang were out in force on Saturday working on the running line close to Heath Hill Tunnel. Rails and sleepers were lifted, the ballast dug out and the rails and sleepers put back in. The line was then ‘jack and packed’ and tamped. On Sunday we had our ‘Anything Goes Diesel Gala. This was a great success with good passenger numbers. In action on the day were BR Class 08 diesel 08757 ‘Eagle’, North British diesel hydraulic No. 27414 ‘Tom’, Ruston and Hornsby diesel mechanical No. 382824 ‘Hector’, Class 142 Pacer No. 142058 with Ruston and Hornsby diesel mechanical No. 313394 ‘Jammo’ making a surprise appearance on passenger trains in the afternoon. We have had lots of very positive feedback about the event which is great to hear. One of our military veteran friends, Colin, had his first ride on a train since 1955! Hopefully it won’t be as long again before his next one. One of our volunteers has successfully passsed out as a diesel driver. Congratulations! We have released a new video on out YouTube channel giving an up date on all the things that have been going on at the railway. We are really excited to share this with you to see the progress that we are making in lots of areas. Hopefully you will find it interesting, please like and subscribe to our channel for more videos like this. https://youtu.be/kMwXrOruxxQ?si=hv29R1moy5VDxSpV We need your help!
