Work on building the bar area has continued this week, which hopefully be completed soon BR class 08 diesel 08757 “Eagle” The loco was brought out of the shed and started up after having the replacement cylinder head replaced. More work needs to be completed before it can be return to service BR class 37 diesel 37263 This loco has also been started up after having a new automatic voltage regulator fitted. Class 144 Pacer No. 144013 and Class 142 Pacer No. 142058 Both locos was started and ran to Lawley and back as they had not worked for a number of weeks. These locos are now being prepared for our ‘Multiple Mayhem’ event on April 29th - May 1st. Class 142 Pacer No. 142004. Work is continuing on this loco by members of the owning group, with will also be running at our ‘Multiple Mayhem’ event Permanent Way (P-Way) The remaining Polar set has been dismantled, and is ready to be returned to Spring Village. Scrap rail has started to be cut at Horsehay and Dawley, which will continue next weekend as well. The engineering train was in action, delivering the gas bottles and bringing back the cut rail to the yard. Repair work continues on the mini digger Work has started on moving the small artifacts museum into a new building in the yard. The museum has not been open to the public for many years, and will a welcome additional attraction to our visitors for 2023 The railway had a stand at the Gauge O Guild spring show in Kettering. The railway will be out and about at shows and railway exhibitions throughout the year. Please come and say hello if you see us! Thank to Doug for the additional information used in this update. A volunteer open day will take place on Sunday 26th March. A morning (10am) and afternoon (1pm) session will take place for prospective new volunteers and members, to see the work that we do and the mental and physical benefits that volunteering at the railway can bring. Visitors will be able to see our steam and diesel locomotives, visit a coach undergoing restoration, see P-Way demonstrations and enjoy a brake van ride to Horsehay and Dawley station. At all times, existing volunteers will be on hand to explain and discuss their roles and answer any questions. Please see our website for full information.
