Join us from Saturday 29th April to Monday 1st May, and the 10th & 11th June for our new event involving our Pacer and Diesel Multiple Units.
An intensive service will be in operation each day at Spring Village station running from 10am until 4pm. The stars of the show will be: CLASS 142 PACER - 142058 *FIRST SERVICES IN PRESERVATION* 142058 was the 26th Class 142 to be preserved. It was the last stationed at Newton Heath (Manchester) under Northern Rail before moving to Telford Steam Railway in April 2021 CLASS 142 PACER - 142004 *FIRST SERVICES IN PRESERVATION* 142004 was the 27th Class 142 to be preserved. It was last stationed at Newton Heath (Manchester) under Northern Rail before moving to Telford in April 2021. 142004 was one of the first Class 142's to be set aside for preservation, but the plans of its future were kept private for over a year and 142004 ended up being one of the last two Class 142 sets still standing on mainline depots, lattery stored at Heaton depot. CLASS 144 PACER - 144013 144013 became the fourth Class 144 to be preserved when it moved to Telford in July 2020. This will be only the second time that the Pacer has hauled public trains in preservation. CLASS 108 DMU - 51950 & 52062 From 1958 to 1961 Derby Works built over three hundred and thirty units which eventually became the class 108. Our set was withdrawn as a pair in 1991, and preserved at the Gloucester and Warwickshire Railway where they were used for off peak services for about ten years. Following time out of use, the current owners bought the pair and relocated them to Telford for an extensive restoration including the overhaul and re-fitting of engines, replacement of rusted body panels, servicing of the brake system, waterproofing and refurbishing the interior. The DMU is currently in chocolate and cream livery. |
