Cameras at the ready !To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Telford Horsehay Steam Trust, we are hosting our first narrow gauge gala !
On the day before the gala, we are hosting our first photo charter event. This will give participates exclusive access to the line to get never before seen angles of our locomotives. Participates will be given full line side access under the supervision of our volunteers, in areas normally out of bounds. With three locomotives on the line, there will be plenty of unique photo opportunities. |
Locomotive Line-Up
For the first time ever, three locomotives will be in service on the tramway ...
What To Expect ...
Its time to capture unqiue photos never before seen, we have an intensive timetable planned with a variety of formations planned.
Guest Locomotive
Alan Keef No. 30 'Taffy' will be joining us as the first visiting steam loco ever on the Telford Town Tramway. As the tram was partly constructed by Alan Keef Ltd, it'll be a special occasion to see two Alan Keef vertical boiler engines together. 'Taffy' will be operating freight journeys, along with shunting demonstrations.
Freight Service
Our new demonstration freight train will make its debut, being pulled by different locomotives during the day. Recently acquired wagons will be in service for the first time since restoration. Ruston No. 229633 will be paired with authentic MOD and RNAD wagons to demonstrate how it worked in military service, while Taffy will recreate the lost narrow gauge freight of Horsehay Works.
Ruston No. 229633 Preservation Debut
Since arriving at TSR in 2022, the Ruston has had an extensive restoration. This event will mark its return to service and its first trains in preservation. The Ruston will be out with the demonstration freight set, along with an exclusive chance to see it pull the carriage on its own.
Photography AreaVisitors will have the chance to visit new photography locations only available during this weekend. Get new shots of the line with a variety of locos out on display. Guests will have access to the line side to get that perfect shot.
Each of the 6 zones will be available throughout the event. You will be supervised by railway staff to transfer between locations while the trains are stopped between services. Visitors are asked to wear appropriate clothing and hi-vis throughout the event. |
GALA EVENT - 7TH JUNEIf your visiting for the photo charter, why not check out our gala event the next day.
