A LNER 20T brake van has arrived at the railway. Believed to be built at Darlington in 1937, its design became the basis for the standard BR brake van. Very little detail is known about this brake van and if anyone can provide further information, it would be gratefully received. It has been purchased privately, and was previously at Colne Valley Railway. The new owner will start its restoration with the plan that once it is restored, it will become part of our demonstration freight train.
Two small dips in the track at Spring Village platform have been ‘jacked and packed’ to allow smoother running. The pedestrian crossing at Spring Village has been replaced and enlarged. This will not only make crossing the track easier for everyone but will also help the flow of passengers leaving the platform during Polar ExpressTM. Restoration on MK2 BSO No. 9046 continues with the seats being refitted. Thank you to Kev and Jacob for the additional information and photographs used in this update.
