Diesel Driver Experiences. Price £240 per person
Our popular fleet of powerful diesel locomotives includes Class 08 Shunter Locomotive, Class 142 and Class 144 Pacer DMU's.
Each course will take two participants, who will each be able to drive between Spring Village and Lawley Village, and also have the opportunity to drive to and from Horsehay & Dawley Station. On your course, you could be hauling up to two coaches and a brake van.
Each participant can be accompanied by up to two guests for free and can add extra guests for £12 each who may travel on the train during the course.
We expect the following locomotives to be used on the following dates (subject to availability).
- Saturday 7th June 2025 - Class 142 or Class 144 Pacer Unit (SOLD OUT)
- Saturday 5th July 2025 - BR Class 08 diesel No. 08757 "Eagle" (SOLD OUT)
- Saturday 2nd August 2025 - BR Class 08 diesel No. 08757 "Eagle" (Only two spaces left)
Please note that participants must be over 18 yrs and must be fit enough to climb onto and off the locomotive from ground level
Your Driver Experience Day starts at 0900 at Spring Village and finishes there at approximately 1300.
*Telford Steam Railway reserve the right to change the locomotive/multiple unit prior to the experience taking place if said vehicle is unfit for use.
