Booking Terms and Conditions

- Candidates must be over 18 years of age, physically fit and in good health, i.e. able to climb from ground level via vertical steps onto the footplate. Candidates with any disability or significant medical condition, such as lung disease, heart disease or diabetes, must contact the Driver Experience Manager before booking. Please bear in mind that it can be very hot, and physically demanding working on the footplate of a steam locomotive.
- All Driver Experiences Courses are offered subject to availability.
- Whilst every effort will be made to adhere to the published course content, this may be affected by the weather and stock availability on the day.
- Bookings are considered to be confirmed only when a.) Full payment has been credited to the Railway's bank account and b.) An agreed date has been sent to the candidate in writing by the Driver Experience Manager.
- Candidates may decline to take part in some aspects of their course on the day; the Railway does not offer partial refunds in these circumstances.
- A refund of 90% will be given for cancellations of bookings if made at least 28 days prior to course date. No refund will be given if less than 28 days notice is provided, unless supported by medical evidence. All refunds will be paid to the purchaser.
- Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate requests to change course dates after confirmation; the railway reserves the right to request an administration charge of £20.
- Once a course has been purchased the railway reserves the right make a surcharge, if the course is not taken within 2 years of the date when payment was made to the Railway, to cover the increasing cost of fuel.
- Should the Railway cancel the course a full refund will be given to the purchaser or an acceptable alternative date offered to the candidate. We cannot be held responsible for accommodation or travel expenses incurred if a course is cancelled.
- Please note that candidates under the influence of alcohol or any other drug that impairs ability, will not be allowed on any locomotive footplate.
Notes
- The "candidate" is the person who will be undertaking the course.
- The "purchaser" is the person who is paying for the course.
- The "Railway" is the Telford Steam Railway.
- Please note that lunch is not included in the price of any of our driver experience courses.
