Built in 1925 by the Great Western Railway, 5619 was saved from
the scrap yard in 1973 and restored to working order by the Telford Steam Railway in 1981.
5619 worked hard for the following 10 years at Telford and on many preserved
railways around Britain. Since 1991, its boiler certificate expired,
5619 has undergone an extensive rebuild ready
for another 10 years of active service.
Having received a loan to top up the original Lottery grant 5619 is nearing completion and is expected back in traffic early in 2008.
The plans are to have 5619 'run in' at a railway in the Midlands, and there will be a Gala at TSR to celebrate 5619's return, before she goes away
on hire to earn her keep, and to pay back the loan.
Of course we are still raising funds to pay back this loan and any donations will be gratefully received.
We are also interested in finding sponsors to help pay back this loan.
